Presented as part of the ACTIE! group exhibition at The Grey Space in the Middle in The Hague, this work was a playful yet critical exploration of transformation, materiality, and performance.
Soundtracked by three songs, the performance unfolded in distinct stages: first, cooking bioplastics in a ritual-like act of creation; next, interacting with kombucha scobies, blurring the boundaries between organic and synthetic matter; and finally, embodying plastic itself—wearing the installation, eating the bioplastics, and dismantling the work to merge body and material.
By embracing absurdity and exaggeration, It’s Plastic, Bitch questioned our relationship with plastic as both an artificial material and an extension of ourselves. The work invited the audience into a world where transformation was unpredictable, humorous, and deeply intertwined with the body.
